Hello Friends!
I am so excited to be participating in the Fab Furniture Flippin’ Contest. This month’s theme is “Spray it Pretty” and the sponsor is HomeRight. If you aren’t familiar with HomeRight, they make paint sprayers, spray shelters, heat guns, etc. I met some of the awesome people from HomeRight last summer at the Haven Conference and was able to see their products up close for the first time. For this contest, HomeRight provided me with a Finish Max Fine Finish HVLP Sprayer. You can read all about it here.
For the contest, I decided to give a makeover to this mid century dresser I picked up last spring. I was really drawn to the clean lines and the gorgeous rectangular pulls. The hardware was tarnished and a bit lost against the light honey colored wood.
I decided that the best way to spray this dresser pretty was to give it a bold color. I wanted to take it from boring and drab to bold and colorful. A modern piece like this is also well suited to the smooth finish that a paint sprayer creates. No roller or brush marks which is awesome.
I chose to use Benjamin Moore Advance paint in “Jade Green.” Before I could get to the spraying, I prepped the dresser by sanding and priming it with Zinsser BIN shellac based primer. Once dry, I lightly sanded, wiped it clean and I was ready to paint. To protect my shop, I used the HomeRight spray shelter. If you have ever set up a tent, then setting up this shelter would be a breeze for you. I haven’t set up a tent in probably 20 years – okay, I have never set up a tent, and it was still easy to do. I did it by myself in my shop in less than 10 minutes.
I sprayed 3 coats of paint and it looked great. The finish is so smooth and even. Love.
The pulls got all shined up with Brasso.
I love how the brass pulls pop against the Jade Green.
Not dull and boring anymore.
I had so much fun spraying this dresser pretty for the Fab Furniture Flippin’ Contest. You should definitely stop by and check out the featured hosts for this month’s contest – Evey from Evey’s Creations and Lynn from Fern Avenue. If you are interested in participating in an upcoming contest, just send an email to info@fabfurnitureflippincontest.com.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Really beautiful! That hardware!!!!! The older I get the more I love the mid-century pieces. Not sure what that says about me…or my age…

I’m right there with you on the appreciation for mid century pieces, and the age thing!

I keep going back to this post – I love the color! I picked up some emerald by General Finishes and NOT what I was looking for! I am going to have to keep trying to mix to get this perfect jade for a MCM project I am working on this weekend.

Hi Lynda! I think GF emerald might be a bit darker. The Jade Green is a bit brighter. Good luck with your project!
