I’m really drawn to the clean lines and classic style of so many midcentury pieces I see. This great midcentury table was no exception. It is well made, sturdy, and had great potential.
I have been hearing great things about General Finishes milk paint and I thought this would be the perfect piece to give it a try. I really do like it – the paint is easy to work with and gives a somewhat translucent finish. The finish is satin in appearance and feels great to the touch, much like honed marble (which I am helpless to resist!).
I also wanted to create a two tone finish. I stained the interior sections with General Finishes Java Gel Stain, another great product. It is quite easy to apply, albeit there is a learning curve.
This is a really versatile piece. It has a slide out shelf, an adjustable middle shelf, and a bottom drawer for extra storage. Who doesn’t need extra storage, right?
Here is the before and after shot. Midcentury for this century. What do you think?
