I picked up this dresser from Craigslist a couple of months ago. It is a really solid and well made piece, just a little plain and some wear to the original finish. It sat for awhile in my inventory because I just couldn’t decide what to do with it.
Here’s the side.
I also picked up this sweet vintage night stand at a recent garage sale. I had already started sanding when I took this photo, so not a true “before” shot.
My grass is no longer that green. It has been so dry and hot in Seattle that it has gone completely brown now.
While not a true set, I thought the style of these two pieces was similar enough that they would work well together. I decided to refinish them to coordinate with one another. I am often asked if I have matching pieces, so this seemed like the way to go with these two.
I sanded each piece and then painted them with Fusion Mineral Paint in Homestead Blue. I really like working with this paint. It has great coverage and the color is so pretty. It’s a medium gray blue with some green undertones. There is no need to apply a topcoat, but the finish is totally matte, which I don’t prefer on a dresser like this. To give it additional protection and sheen, I applied General Finishes High Performance topcoat in flat (which is not actually a true flat finish).
Here is the nightstand.
Both pieces got new light blue ceramic knobs from Hobby Lobby.
The drawer interiors on this dresser are so lovely.
I have never seen drawers made like this. It’s like a bead board on the bottom.
I lined the nightstand drawer with a gray chevron paper.
I think these two pieces work so well together. But, they are great on their own as well.

I haven’t tried Fusion paint yet, but your finish looks so smooth I just may have to give it a try. Very pretty transformations!

Beautiful job! Where do you find this paint?

Thank you! The Fusion Mineral Paint website lists retailers. Since there are none near me, I purchased through Amazon Prime.

I just found your blog last week. I love your style! I especially like the way you revive furniture in a classy polished way. I like vintage but I’m not a huge fan of chippy finishes so I really appreciate your take.
I’m excited to follow along!
