Hello friends,
By now, you may have heard that one of Pantone’s colors of the year is Rose Quartz. It’s a lovely soft and sophisticated pink, and works quite well as a neutral. I thought the subtle pink shade would be perfect for this sweet vintage dresser I picked up.
It’s very similar in style to a dresser I refinished last summer. You can see that one here. This time, I decided to go in a very different direction.
I sanded the entire dresser, cleaned and then primed it. I knew I was going to be going with a light color, so priming would reduce the number of coats. I then mixed up a custom blush pink using General Finishes milk paint in Antique White and Coral Crush. I only used a small splash of the coral crush since I wanted a very soft and creamy pink.
I applied 4 light coats, sanding between coats, and then sealed up the entire piece with General Finishes high performance topcoat in flat.
I added mother of pearl knobs that I picked up from World Market.
I lined the drawers with a black and cream floral drawer liner as a finishing touch.
Thanks for stopping by. Happy Valentine’s Day and Happy Spring!
Susan

So pretty. This is the second light pink dresser makeover I’ve seen in the past two weeks and I’m so tempted to paint the antique dresser that I just finished sanding down this same color. Well done. – Vicki @ EntriWays.com
Thanks so much Vicki! I really love blush pink right now. It’s sophisticated without being a “bubble gum” pink.
Hi! I was wondering if you paint the sides (inside and out) of the drawers?
Hi Stacey! I do not paint the sides of the drawers. I don’t want to add additional layers that could impact the ability of the drawers to slide well.
Nice milk paint finish no distressing

Oh My Goodness! This is so soft and beautiful! I love how you paired it with that rug and the roses and the shoes and … it’s all perfectly adult! Well done! I hope you have a great day!
