Hi Friends,
I am so excited to be teaming up with 36 ah-mazing bloggers for the Summer Colors Home Tours hosted by Jennifer at Town and Country Living. When Jennifer invited me to be a part of this home tour, I definitely had a pinch me moment. Included in this group are some seriously talented rock star bloggers, and I am beyond thrilled to be joining them. They are all listed at the bottom of this post. Be sure to check them out – I know you will be inspired.
When I think of summer colors here in the Pacific Northwest, the beautiful deep blues of the Puget Sound immediately come to mind. The summer decor in my home is inspired by the sea and lush greenery that surrounds us here in Seattle. Saturated and vibrant shades of blue are the colors I have used in my home this summer.
Dining Room
In our dining room, I switched out the rug with a neutral striped indoor/outdoor rug that I picked up a couple of years ago at the Goodwill. While blue is my summer color, stripes are the summer pattern in my home. I also added a couple of thrifted rattan chairs. The blue throws add a punch of color to the otherwise neutral space.
The yellow roses are from my garden, and contrast nicely with the blue. Yellow isn’t a color I use often in my decor, but it is such a happy and summery color to add.
Kitchen
Fresh herbs from my garden are a summer staple. Add some lemons, and you have the perfect ingredients for a fresh summer meal or cocktail.
I love collecting vintage crocks, and I just picked up another one from the Goodwill. A few daisies help to brighten up the shelves next to the stove.
Family Room
The family room is right off the kitchen at the back of our home. I love coastal decor, and summer is the perfect time to display a few beachy treasures.
The painting was another recent thrift store find. It is by French artist Andre´ Houllier, and it reminds me so much of the Washington and Oregon coast.
Master Bedroom
The final space I’m sharing today is our master bedroom. A few touches of blue and lots of crisp white make for a cool and relaxing retreat.
The nights here in the Pacific NW are still chilly, so layers on the bed are a must. A white linen duvet feels cool and fresh.
Thank you so much for spending some time with me today. Next up on the tour is Danielle from Finding Silver Pennies. She is so talented, and her home in Scituate is a dream. The rest of the fabulous tours are listed below.

Love your home Susan… you had me at the kitchen! And yes the roses and extra little touches make it a beautiful home. I love your pillows through out your home too they look light and not heavy. Any ideas of where to get pillows similar to yours? I just moved to the Pacific NW and settling in… Thanks!
Susan says
Thank you, Caren! Welcome to the Pacific NW. I have made many of my own pillow covers – I like to use grain sack and ticking fabrics. My other favorite sources for pillows are HomeGoods and Pottery Barn (when they have sales!).

Hi Susan. Your colors are impeccable and make you want to just ‘sit and stay awhile’. I say your overall color code but is there a room-by-room list? I saw you listed your daughter’s room color but the gray are hard to distinguish as to which is which….would especially love to know the kitchen gray. Thanks so much for such a wonderful blog.
